A couple of members decided to try things out with some hand launched stuff this morning.

Joe Miller brought his lawnmower with the intention of cutting a heli pad.  However, once we saw how dry things were and how easy it was going to be, the decision was made to cut the entire runway.

A big thank you goes out to Joe, Jon and craig for the muscle power in doing that, not once but  THREE times.  I didn't do much but take photos.

the runway looks great!  anyone with normal size tires can fly off it easily and several did today.  Only the smaller tired planes would have any trouble.

the grass is quite smooth after just today's grooming and will get better with each cut.

at the moment and barring any bad and wet weather things are very dry.  The road out is easily passable with reasonable caution.  It is bone dry but there is some rutting which can be overcome simply by keeping your wheels on the high spots.  Five of us were flying there today.

Next will be cutting the pits and getting the fencing up.  weather will determine that timing, but it should be looked at soon.

NOTE ALSO:  It is important for me to say these photos were shot with a 300mm telephoto and telephotos PULL THINGS IN THE BACKGROUND CLOSER making the trees looks a lot closer than they really are.  There is plenty of room to fly at the new site!

WOW , looking at the pic's , I think we should move all out and get the field setup for everyone to use , this is great ....

can we plan for a work part next weekend and start moving stuff ?

we really should look at doing that paul.  The weatherman may decide for us though.  not looking great for early this week and the weekend.

Awesome day!!! Told you Joe that you would be the first..... Sorry that I wasnt more sympathetic ;D ;D ;D. So glad that the runway is mowed now and we can just get at it! Paul, dont worry about organizing anything, just come out and do it, We did, and LOOK at the fun that was had today!!!!!!!! By the way, Craig and Joe had some awesome flights on their helis today! ;D

Yup, was a really fun day.  Jon and Craig did most of the mowing when I was gone getting more gas for the mower.  Thanks guys!

Field is looking really good.  A few more mows and it will start filling in nicely I think. 

Yup, didn't see much sympathy coming from you Jon, which was disappointing seeing how you bullied me into the trees.  You should be ashamed.....

aaahh...that's why I missed giving craig credit for mowing.   I was with you on the gas run and missed it.

Oh, I so want to have my Stryker in that mix, boy,the planes are certainly matched in performance. thoroughly enjoyed the sound and sight of this Stryker chase ! :D
