Title: my new plane arrived today
Post by astroflyer on Apr 9th, 2012 at 9:04pm
Geoff says it's a high wing geebee.
Joan says it's ugly!

I love it!

massive fuse, short wings, high wing loading.....should be fun!   ;D

stuck together for a peek, no graphics yet, although there are not many on this famous airplane.

yessir , sure is.  kit from great  planes has every screw , clevis and fitting.  needs nothing except motor and electrics.  very well engineered .

yes, no slime for me ever again.   ;D

got the flap and aileron servos in it last night.  probably gonna setup the elevator and rudder tonight.

then it's just the motor setup and detail the dummy engine.

I dunno.  after drilling multible holes and glueing all those fake pushrods in, almost every one out of alignment, I need another break!   ;D

Ready for the first flight.

I will be removing the wheel pants for the grass field for obvious reasons.

I did not add the wing struts because:

1. non functional
2. poor fit
3. very heavy.  made of metal and somewhere in the area of six ounces. very strong but too heavy!

I flew two test flights friday night in some wind.  It flew as expected after a few clicks of up trim and a touch of right.

Both landings were a bit hot and resulted in nose over both times, much like jon's geebee. I should have not read the internet crap about the high wing loading. ;D  It will land a lot slower as I get used to it.

The pitch up with flaps is strong, but a flap/elevator mix I set up took care of that nicely.

overall I'm pretty pleased with it.  ;D

Keep in mind that stickers ad weight although they look cool Al... You should just go for the gusto and put on the struts for full effect. I can't wait to see it up in the air..
