I'm a firm believer in the Air Cadet program for young people and saw another indication of that program's success at the Debert airport today.  Cadets there for ground school and glider qualification were very lucky this week in that a number of them got rides in one of these vintage warbirds.

four of these vintage wings of canada planes were there today taking cadets up for what must have been very thrilling rides.

this pretty bird is a pt-26 Cornell built in 1943.  It was put into storage at that time and has quite an ownership history.  At the moment it has only 1200 hours on it.

Three others are taking part in the cadet rides, the Harvard I photographed last week, a chipmunk and a fleet finch.  the finch was in the shop today for engine lubrication and I neglected to go and look at it.

While we were there the chipmunk returned from a flight with a young cadet on board.

A pretty satisfactory day for me seeing these!  these planes had toured canada last year and were also at Debert but I missed them.

this year they are doing 500 cadet flights across the country and have one more stop in Greenwood before that is finished.

I think they were planning on leaving for Greenwood later today.

very cool. I had a ride in a chipmonk a few years back. would like to get into a biplane too but those rides were still a little too much.
