Title: meeting for ASRCM
Post by gdatmsc on May 25th, 2020 at 9:27pm
I spoke to Jon this weekend about having a meeting for our club. It may still be some time before we can have an in-person gathering, so maybe we should do an online session. I offered myself and Chris to help set it up. We have several members in the club regularly using TeamSpeak for online gaming, and Chris has a private server running for it. We use headsets with mics, but you can use any mic and speakers - just have to enable push to speak. Also, you can participate without a mic by listening on your speakers and typing in the message area. Let us know if you are OK with trying a meeting. If you want help in setting up teamspeak let us know.

Since it looks like we are going to do this, you should get yourself familiar with Teamspeak if you plan to attend the meeting. Teamspeak is available here for free. You'll want to download the client for your system. The last I heard the phone clients were not working very good but you are welcome to try them. The phone versions are not free. A My Teamspeak account is not required.

I will post a follow-up with the server information so you can connect and try your settings before the meeting.

My Teamspeak server connection information is:

     loonatic.dyndns.org:9019
     password is asrcm

The server is up 24/7 365.
There are usually people on gaming between 7pm and 9pm every evening. Connect during this time to verify your settings are good. Please do not use this time for troubleshooting your setup. You are welcome to join us for gaming.

I have added a loop-back on the Teamspeak server when we are not using it so you will be able to hear yourself talking (with a slight delay). This will give you the ability to test your sound setup when we are not on.

There is some audio setup help available here

If the Teamspeak help and Google can not solve your configuration problems, contact me or Geoff for help.

I've downloaded the teamspeak app on my apple phone and have no issues. Works very well.

Teamspeak also has a test server.

voice.teamspeak.com:9987
no password

By default you will join a channel without talking ability. You can join the Public Master Talk channel to talk to someone and test your voice setup.

I have sent an email to all members that I have addresses for requesting we try to have the meeting Monday evening at 8:00. Please provide feedback on your ability to attend so we can decide whether to go ahead. You need to do a test call to Chris' server before hand and see that your audio is working. Let us know if you need assistance.

My connection works.  I don't have a microphone.  Threw all that junk out a long while ago in a purge.  lol  But My speakers should work.

When you connect to the server for testing, without a microphone, you will still hear the loop-back saying "user entered your channel" in your speakers. If you hear this, your speakers are configured properly.
