Upcoming Weekend
Apr 24th, 2014 at 7:20pm

Hey guys, here is an update about the coming weekend.  We are planning to do some more work at the field, and of course play airplanes too. I can't get the chainsaw from work this weekend, but Craig was good enough to let me use his so I am planning to get rid of as many as I can. I can only go out on Saturday. Steffie is making me go somewhere saturday night and Sunday afternoon as well. If anyone has a chainsaw and wants to come out to help it would greatly be appreciated. When I finish the back tree line and start along the edge of the field,  it would be great to have some help with dragging the fallen trees back off the field.  Joe plans to bring out his wheelbarrow so that we can steel a little gravel off the side of the road that was just graded and take down the road further and fill some of the smaller holes. The greelee box needs a new hole dug as well. The frost heaved the cement block right out of the ground.  If anyone has the key that unlocks the greenlee box from the cement block, pleas bring it out. If not we will have to cut it and get a new one. Any help with all this guys would be greatly appreciated. Better to get all this out of the way now and enjoy the rest of the flying season. Remember that you must have proof of MAAC to fly at the field.
One other thing,  I was talking to George Landry tonight and he says that the mower should be done by Saturday. There were a few things that needed fixed. New battery,  new belts,  new blades,  and some new pulleys,  just to name a few. He said that the mower is still in great shapefor it's age. It came in well under our budget.  He said that he would call me when its finished.  We just need a way to go out and pick it up. Many thanks to George for all this help. Just so you are all aware,  George doesn't want anything for all his work done to the mower.  Thanks again for Craig and Geoff for getting it to George's house, and thanks again to Geoff for setting this up with George.

I am happy to help with anything that needs doing Jon. I am good at dragging my a$$ at work, so dragging a few trees should be pretty simple  Grin

Just a heads up guys. Checked the field tonight and the road that was just graded is very very soft so doubt we can get up over it tomorrow.

Also the open area just below the road is far too soft to drive on.  The large puddle there has very little water in it due to the ditching done by Derek's son and easily driven through.   But if you go through it, you hit the quicksand.
No problem driving up to that last puddle though.

The road survived the downpour.  Nothing washed away.

The other puddles that Matt and Joe dug trenches beside last weekend also have very little water.   Great job gents!

The runway is damp but not real wet.

Cool, thanks for the update Al.  Looks like another day of walking in.  Glad to hear the new gravel is holding together. Smiley

Look ma, NO TREES!

Alain retrieves Craig's carbon cub.  In the background is the new open area following the work party today.

the second photo is the same area in april of last year.  A lot of trees have been removed.

Really nice pics Al Smiley

Here is what the road looks like as of this morning from the bottom of the pasture, right up to the pits. Still very muddy but looks like it will be great once it's all dried out. Huge thanks to Darren for being our chauffeur!
