at the field sept. 23
Sep 23rd, 2015 at 8:03pm

A two shift day for me today, morning shift until about 12:30 and then back just after 2pm for the afternoon/night shift.  The darned things you have to do when you're retired....lol

First photo from today features two members of the OFF branch of ASRCM with their trainer planes.  lol

In addition to Tom and I Rob Fobrigger was also on hand for the morning shift.

The afternoon shift included a lot of FPV flying and a couple of stryker flights.

Chris, Craig and Geoff in their FPV uniforms.

Richard was flying FPV with his qx3 quad and shooting video of the action.

In a couple of these stryker pictures you can see his quad in action if you look carefully.

Geoff in his chair while FPV equipped funcubs (his and Chris's) orbit the field.  Some great flying on those today, particularly on Geoff's part as it was his first time FPV'ing a fun cub.  Didn't take him very long to start making very low passes and touch and goes.

Ben,the ultimate is a really great airplane.  Love it.

As you know I'm no 3d flyer so I just sport fly it.   Knice edge is the best and easiest of any plane I've had. Tom was flying 3d with his yesterday and it's great for that as well.

I flew again today in probably 20kph winds and it is rock solid, amazing really.  You see some aileron jiggle as it corrects for gusts but the plane just carves a fantastic line.

Landings are super slow if you want.  No tendency to drop a wing at all.

I always liked my e-flite balsa ultimate, it was similar in size.  The landings were a breeze on that one as well.

Where is the skill in that?  Grin  A lot of guys are running mixes as well which I don't think is in the spirit of IMAC either ie.  inputting rudder based on how much throttle applied to compensate for thrust angle issues.

I am a purist  Grin  The radio/receiver shouldn't be doing the flying you should be.  Although if I had a wardbird I wouldn't be opposed to using something similar to as3x.

You see, that is the fallacy.   The receiver is not doing the flying at all.   If it was I could sit and have a coffee while the plane took off and flew by itself.

Explain the crashes people have even with as3x.  It doesn't make those flyers any better.   Lol
